LOOKING GOOD ...

LOVE IS IN THE EYES .... THE FIRST DANCE
You all know how much I enjoy photographing weddings at Wynyard Hall Country House Hotel on the borders of Durham and Cleveland between Stockton on Tees and hartlepool.
It's one of the finest wedding venues in the north of England, and I have now photographed almost 20 wedding celebrations there, with a lot more to come this year!
Laura and Andrew are lovely, lovely people with two delightful children who were determined to enjoy a relaxed wedding day at Wynyard Hall with their closest friends and relatives - and that's where I came in!

Both of them are not naturally comfortable in front of a camera, so they knew that there was no pressure from me and that I would capture their wedding as naturally as possible, with a small pause for some family photographs with parents and siblings and a quick break for some bridal portraits.
Looking at the photographs above, can you believe that Laura, who looked stunning on the day, actually has little confidence about herself?  No, neither can I but my approach to weddings made sure that Andrew and her were able to totally relax, then actually enjoy being in front of the camera for some lovely images later in the day!
So, we first met at Wynyard Hall for some tea and biscuits to chat about their forthcoming wedding. They LOVED the place and were very excited about their plans to be married, they have been together since they were thirteen years old, when Laura used to babysit for Andrew's cousin. .. how lovely!

Andrew works away a lot, so I kept Laura's spirits up at times chatting on Facebook and on the phone, even late at night, as her planning developed and I could advise her about all sorts of bits and bobs.
We had a laugh and more tea at Wynyard a few weeks before the wedding too - a bit more bonding and a  few photographs for a signing board on the day.
When I arrived a few hours before, the lovely sisters who are the AMAZING La Belle Vous were busy with hair and make-up while little ones  scattered about, their wonderful flower girl dresses hanging, waiting ...
Laura's Mum was cool, calm and relaxed and her sister Claire was a load of fun on the day too. I nipped downstairs to make some establishing photographs and also to be able to show Laura some images from the Mirror Room where the ceremony was to take place as it had been 'dressed'  since she had last been in the room.
Andrew looked really cool in his suit, along with his best man and son who looked very dapper.
Guests were starting to arrive now, so it was back upstairs where the hair and make-up was almost complete, so I took time out to capture dress details - a beautiful Justin Alexander dress, I LOVE Justin Alexander dresses and so do many of my brides judging by the amount I see every year! Laura's amazing bouquets and flowers for the wedding were top class as ever from Eliza Blooms in Darlington - so beautiful!
By now our beautiful flower girls and bridesmaids were ready to go, and the ladies from La Belle Vue graciously heleped Laura into her dress - well out of their comfort zone, but a commendable effort ladies!
there were smiles all round as laura's father arrived and we headed down the stairs to be at Andrew's side.

He was a little nervous, but he had a big beaming smile as Laura came down the aisle - their son trying to pre-empt the situation by running down the aisle to greet his Mum!
A lovely moment!
The sun was shining as we went outside for drinks and canapes, with time for a confetti photograph for those people who were ITCHING to throw confetti!
Then an hour and a half for everyone to chill out and enjoy their day, with ten minutes borrowed to fill those frames at home for parents!

Speeches were fine and entertaining, the food as lovely as ever (thanks for the hospitality folks!) and we were left with a little time before the evening guests arrived, so I took Laura down to the bridge  and under one of the blooming spring cherry trees with white blossom for some bridal portraits - she admitted that she was LOVING her wedding day and even my time with her taking photographs - RESULT!
Soon it was time for the cutting of the cake and the first dance and for me to head off home after a lovely, lovely wedding celebration for everyone.
I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of their wedding at Wynyard Hall, and if you would like me to capture your wedding as naturally as possible while making you look stunning and keeping Mums and dads and grandparents happy in 15 minutes flat too - then RING ME NOW on 0778 7150966 or message me on Facebook and CHECK YOUR DATE!

Lumley Castle is a great venue for your wedding with many different rooms for smaller intimate wedding celebrations as well as the Barons Hall for larger wedding parties.
I love photographing intimate 2nd wedding celebrations anywhere, theres something special when two people find true love a second time, and Liz and Tony decided after many years together, that they should make things legal!
They're such a happy couple, who met in a pub near the Quayside in Newcastle when Liz was helping out a friend in the pub and Tony was a regular visitor when he worked in that area. Tony is a big friendly welcoming chap from the south and Liz is a typical warm welcoming north east lady and their happiness was quite infectious! MORE PHOTOGRAPHS LATER TODAY!
We seemed to gel very well after I met them at a wedding fair (at The Sage I think ... ) and they later revealed that I was pretty much the only photographer who showed real interest in THEM .. so that was nice!
We caught up a few weeks before the wedding at Lumley Castle just to go through the day and share some tea and cake and it was a very foggy day when I turned up at the castle as Liz and her bridesmaid daughter Alex and her son Gavin who was giving her away, were gathering with close friends and family.
There was fun in laughter in the room where Liz was getting ready, and it was so nice that she decided to get married in a cream lace dress, even though Tony said he felt a bit awkward in a suit when he's usually a jeans and sweatshirt man!
There were tears from Liz and her daughter as I took some photographs before she headed off down the aisle to meet with Tony, but once by his side, the tears and emotion were held in check and there was a huge smile and a round of applause from their friends and relatives!
We has some time afterwards for drinks and relaxation time next to the Scarborough Suite where the ceremony had taken place and where the wedding breakfast was to be.
I captured some lovely images of guests chatting with the happy couple and as the fog had lifted a little we headed outside for ten minutes to get some portraits.
Then it was straight into speeches, some lovely food by which time additional friends were arriving to enjoy their evening celebrations.
It had been a great day for Liz and Tony, so I hope this Sneak Peek of their wedding day allows you to share their happiness at Lumley Castle.
