WEDDINGS AT DOXFORD HALL HOTEL AND SPA NEAR ALNWICK NORTHUMBERLAND
Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa is the 'baby' of Brian Burnie, a former Newcastle recruitment company boss, who has invested more than £14million into developing the Doxford Hall Country House Hotel at Chathill, near Alnwick
Mr Burnie, who lives with wife Shirley in the adjacent Doxford Hall, a John Dobson-designed mansion house which dates from the early 19th Century, won planning permission for his hotel scheme in 2000.
And ever since then, the low key project has been slowly progressing, with the specification so good Mr Burnie has nicknamed the hotel “Handmade Hall.”
The hotel has 25 rooms, each named after a Northumbrian castle and guests have access to a health club and a gourmet restaurant.
Mr Burnie wants the building to stand as his legacy – and to be part of the Northumbrian landscape as long as Doxford Hall has been.
He said: “Hopefully it will be around for a couple of hundred years. It will all be based on ‘God’s country’ – Northumberland. I want to be remembered by this magnificent building.
“This has been an ongoing project for quite a number of years. We will be leaving something for future generations. It’s very much a building of minute details – the sort of thing you can’t rush. For instance, all the gutters are lead lined.
“It’s definitely not ‘off the shelf’. We are thinking of nicknaming it ‘Handmade Hall’ as so much has been done that way.
This looks to be a brilliant new wedding venue for exclusivity or for the discerning bride or family wanting a wedding location a little bit different.
I would be honoured to be considered to be your wedding photographer at Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa - our wonderful A3 wedding books would make a great reminder of what would be a very special day!
