TIME FOR A LITTLE ROMANCE AT WYNYARD HALL AS THEY SHELTER FROM THE RAIN!
Wynyard Hall has grown over the past two years into one of the premier wedding venues in the north of England with all virtually all Saturday's and Sunday's now booked for four years ahead!
It's one of my favourite wedding venues, steeped in history with magnificent architecture and wonderful grounds, so I was delighted when Caroline and Antony asked me to be their official wedding photographer.
They knew exactly what they wanted, lots of relaxed photographs showing the ambiance and atmosphere and fun of their wedding celebrations, nothing starchy, nothing that took them away from their guests and didn't involve standing around all day getting photographs taken - that sounded like me!
They had seen the photographs I produced at other weddings posted on my BLOG and website and were convinced after I met with them at their home, a converted church west of Durham.
So, the big day arrived and I was at Caroline's home bright and early as she gathered with her famly and bridemaids - and out came the champagne!
Everyone was so friendly and accommodating so it was a breeze to capture some nice natural wedding preparation images - and I even had time to dash out of the door and up the hill where other guests - including the groom Antony were being picked up in a vintage black double decker bus... even Caroline stuck her head out of the front gate to catch a glimpse.
My friend and felow professional photographer Dawn was at Wynyard Hall to capture the arrival of the guests on the bus, whileI followed Caroline's cars from home through to the venue.
Once there, there was time for a last bit of lipstick and adjustments to her beautiful Sophia Tolli wedding dress before she went down ther aisle to meet with Antony - she looked a real picture and knocked the socks off Antony when he turned around to greet her.
The rain poured down all day unfortunately, but Wynyard Hall is such a great venue that there are always options, and while it would have been nice to have been on the terrace in the sunshine on a June day, that's the British summer for you!
There was lots of time with canapes and champagne to get lots of lovely relaxed images of Caroline and Antony with their friends and relatives, and the wedding breakfast and speeches ended with a bang.
Caroline's German mum was surprised, along with guests from around the world when an Austro-Germanic accordian player burst forth and had the crowd singing along and waving (mainly German flags).
I think a few of the chaps felt a bit awkward with the World Cup so close, but everyone entered into the spirit of the stunt that Caroline had dreamt up!
Another 100 Evening guests were almost assembling as the events came to a close and then it was more meeting and greeting, the cake cutting and the first dance - what a wedding, and with the music and laughter still ringing in my ears and after 12 hours on my feet, I headed off home - and it was STILL raining!
Enjoy this SNEAK PEEK of the fun - 20+ images from the 400+ images that tell the story of their fabulous wedding celebrations!
