Dan and Sarah are such a lovely couple of people that I had my fingers crossed that they would choose me for their intimate wedding at one of my favourite wedding venues in the north of England at Crathorne Hall in North Yorkshire.
We seemed to get on really well at our first meeting, and I stressed the imporantace to me of building a relationship with my brides and grooms as well as their families and they made the point that they felt a bit awkward in front of the camera, and wanted a relaxed, intimate wedding with their closest family and friends ... so really, we were a match made in heaven!
We had a laugh on our pre-wedding portrait session and so when it came to their wedding day, we were not strangers, and eveyone could relax and have a brilliant day - which is just what happened!
I caught up with Sarah and all her girlfriends a few hours before the wedding got underway, there was lots of laughter and chattering and you could tell that they had all been friends since primary school, nursery school in some instances! Sarah was a bit worried about her dress, not sure if the (beautiful) ornamental shoulder strap would work or not ... I assured her it would be wonderful (I'm a man, what would I know ... ?) and luckily so did the girls while I was photographing it in a temporary room at Crathorne Hall before they moved into the bridal suite.
I knew the wedding dress would knock Dan's socks off when he saw Sarah coming down the aisle!
Dan and his brother, the best man, and closest friends arrived in a stretch limousine, full of confidence (well, not really!) and ready for his wedding day!
Soon enough, the champagne was flowing, Sarah gained in confidence and blew us all away when her Victoria Jane wedding gown from Ronald Joyce was on .. WOW! Her friends had tears, lots of tears, then kisses and cuddles - she was the first of her friends to be married and you could see how excited they all were!
Sarahs father had flown in from Australia for the wedding and to give her away and he waited patiently at the bottom of the grand staircase at Crathorne Hall, his eyes filling with pride when he saw his daughter come down the stairs into his arms. Aawww....
Dan was a little quiet and a bit pale as I made my way to the front, and whispered "Time to Get Married" to him, but his face surely lit up when the bridesmaids and then his wife-to-be came down the aisle ... lots more tears again from her friends!
Soon enough, the lovely personal service was over and out we went into the drawing room and then outside into the beautiful sunshine and blue skies over north Yorkshire - it was to last most of the day!
There was lots of time for informal and formal family groups and those with friends too, then inside for a beautiful wedding breakfast (thanks folks!) where Sarah's father sang an impromtu song which had the guests clapping and cheering, before chilling out in the sunshine again with some fun photographs as the champagne took hold! There was also an impromtu dance in the woods too .. a day for impromtu things .... See the additional photographs on my Facebook page!
It was time for the first (real) dance far too quickly (for Dan .. ) but Sarah put him at his ease and they were soon joined by their friends and family for some SERIOUS dancing!
I said my farewells, lots of handshakes and kisses and cuddles, then it was time to hit the road and head off home to bed!
I hope you enjoy this SNEAK PEEK of their 400+ final edited images, when Sarah and Dan return from their honeymoon in New York they will send out the LINK and the password so that you can see all of their wedding photographs!
