Smaller intimate weddings are more and more popular nowadays. Gatherings of your closest friends and family for one of the biggest days of your life makes a wedding seem more special than a huge wedding at a country house hotel.
Louise and Dave knew this was the type of wedding they would prefer and fell in love with Crab Manor and The Crab and Lobster in North Yorkshire.
It was the second of four weddings I'm photographing there this year and I have photographed many other wedding celebrations there too over the last few years - all of them lovely gatherings of the bride and groom's nearest and dearest.
Louise was busy with her make-up artist when I arrived and seemed pretty chilled to me, though she confessed later she was really, really nervous, but her bridesmaids put her at ease as well as her Mum, while we had a giggle and a laugh at the time for her vows came closer.
Dave had arrived much earlier than most grooms, but his mates were all there early too and the chance for an early beer or two to settle the nerves was tempting I'm sure!
There was time for me to put their signing-in board in place in the restaurant area where their wedding breakfast would be.
They selected the image from their pre-wedding portrait shoot near Leeds and as the day progressed, their family and friends signed the board with lovely messages - a great memento from their wedding!
Louise's father arrived with a big smile on his face as he saw his daughter in her Sophie Louise wedding dress for the first tme, and very soon after, the anxious look on Louise's face lifted dramtically. Suddenly, she realised she was about to be married - and it excited her, and I could see her face change with the most enormous smile just before she walked down the aisle .. a great moment.
The simple ceremony was soon over and the black skies and driving rain and high winds threatened by the weather forecasters seemed very hollow as we walked out into the sunshine for lots of kissing and cuddling and handshakes and bear hugs!
In good weather, with your guests on the lawn outside the conservatory at the Crab and Lobster with a glass of Pimms in hand, always strikes me as a perfect scenario.
Lots of lovely photographs to be had, people laughing and chatting and having a great time, with a few quick family photographs in between before we walked down to the restaurant for the beautiful wedding breakfast (thank you !) before we headed outside after coffee and chocolate truffles for speeches outside - a great feature of having a wedding at this venue.
Soon after, I manged to grab Louise and Dave for 10 minutes to create a few nice photographs, as the evening guests arrived followed not long after by a barbeque, cutting the cake, first dance and the party to follow!
It was a great intimate wedding for them both with their family and friends who are closest to them, and the photographs I took will be a brilliant record of their great wedding celebrations!
