Headlam Hall is one of my very favourite wedding venues in the north of England.
Everything about this intimate wedding venue, west of Darlington on the County Durham / Teesdale border works so well for my brides who get married there.
For Amanda and Nick, like the majority of my brides and grooms, Headlam Hall was an old friend, a place for romance, a place for great food and happiness, a meeting place for friends and relatives.
What better place to get married?
I met with them at Headlam Hall more than 10 months or so before their wedding - they had seen some of my recent weddings at Headlam Hall posted on my BLOG and website, and like Rhoanne, Charlotte and Rachel, they just wanted to have a great day of celebration, no bother, no hassle and certainly not with a photographer who would take them away from their guests for ages or do endless family line-ups.
Just a relaxed, happy, family gathering captured naturally - and that's what they got!
I was at Headlam Hall good and early and Amanda was really chilled out as she was having her hair and make-up completed by the ladies from the Spa at Headlam Hall. Her daughter and her Mum were also being pampered as they prepared for Amanda's wedding to Nick.
Nick, in the meantime had been caught on the hop, by a coach-full of friends and relatives who had arrived ON TIME! How dare they?
So it was time for a quick pint in the bar to settle his pre-match nerves, before heading off to see the registrar along with Andrew, the Manager at Headlam Hall - a nicer chap you couldn't wish to meet, you know your wedding is in safe hands with Andrew and his team!
While Nick was suddenly realising that he was to be married within the hour, Amanda and the 'girls' were still taking their time getting ready. She looked beautiful in her Maggie Sottero wedding dress from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge.
Before long, Andrew was back to escort the bride-to-be to the civil ceremony, and Nick had lost his pre-match nerves and was really looking forward to seeing Amanda!
It was smiles all round as they met at the front of the aisle, and as they made their way out after the ceremony and readings, their closest friends and relatives blew bubbles as they left the hall and went out in the glorious March weather of blue skies and blazing sunshine, to enjoy canapes and champagne.
After an hour or so of letting the bride and groom and their guests 'get into the wedding', I borrowed the 100 or so guests for a quick group shot, only to be let down by a groomsman who had disappeared....to the bar!
It was such a happy gathering that as I headed back to the throng patiently waiting on the magnificent lawn at Headlam Hall, many of them were singing 'New York, New York' and kicking their legs out Vaudeville Style!
It was just one of those wedding days!
Soon it was time for the wedding breakfast, speeches and drinks, which over-ran a little so I couldnt take the bride and groom for a quick walk in the famous walled garden at Headlam Hall.
No matter, I knew I had lots of fine photographs capturing the spirit and the fun of the day, and Nick and Amanda were not the type of people wanting to be the centre of attention anyway!
Come the evening celebrations an hour later, a surprise first dance from the happy couple (for which they had been to dancing lessons) was captured on video and stills along with Amanda's daughter singing the main song as well as two others with the band that her singing teacher and music teacher feautured in.
So - a great wedding day of celebrations at Headlam Hall, captured as it happened, naturally with lots of happy smiling faces and a great photo documentary of a great day for Nick and Amanda.
