Jesmond Dene House Hotel is a beautiful romantic place for a wedding, even more so when the fire is roaring and the Christmas tree is lit up and candles grace the tables, and so it was for Nicola and Simon's December wedding.
Nicola and Simon are REALLY busy people working in London, and much of their wedding was brought together by Nicola's parents Helen and Colin who did a great job to pull the day together, and luckily, they saw my relaxed, happy wedding photography where I become a small but important part of the family for the day to capture lots of chilled out photographs of everyone having a great day of celebration - and booked me!
I met briefly with the bride-and-groom-to-be during a flying visit to Gosforth, but exchanged emails and web links, so that everyone felt confident that I would capture the essence and atmosphere of their day, as, like many of my brides and grooms Nicola and especially Simon, were not comfortable in front of a camera.
I met up with Simon's parents at Gosforth All Saints Church the evening before the wedding at the dress rehearsal as well as with Nicola's bridesmaids and Simon's best man, so when I arrived at the family home on Saturday lunchtime there were no surprises, everyone, especially Nicola was chilled out and relaxed for me to capture the preparations for the day!
Once the wedding gown was on - by Mariola at The Wedding Dress Shop in London - was on, there was time for a few family photographs with Mum and dad and the bridesmaids before I headed off to the church to catch up with Simon and his best man and ushers - and very smart they looked too!
Simon was about as chilled as Nicola, and the lovely service was straightforward, apart from the Vicar dropped the wedding rings when handed them by the best man, which is exactly the opposite of what normally happens - a comedy moment if ever there was one!
No time to hang about at the church after a few quick formal images in front of the alter, darkness was falling fast with it being a 2.30pm winter wedding start and we needed to get across to Jesmond Dene House Hotel.
The Dreadnought bus delivered the guests, and there was time for everyone to really get into the spirit of the day and enjoy their champagne and canapes, while I photopgraphed the room setting which was beautiful, along with some important detail images and the wedding cake for Nicola's mum Helen.
Just before being called to meet people at the line-up before the grand entry and applause to the room, I 'borrowed' Simon and Nicola and their important family members for some record images in the lovely old room.
Once the wedding breakfast was finished (beautiful meal indeed - thank you for your hospitality!) the speeches were up next and Simon had the room going 'Aaawww...' as he expressed his love for his new wife. Emotional.
By now it was already 8pm, so we vacated the room for the band to set up, and this was an ideal time to catch up with other members of the family and friends photographs as everyone was really relaxed now.
First dance was soon underway - they looked so in love, before I thanked both sets of parents for their friendship and hospitality, Simon shook my hands and said the photography experience had not been too traumatic (!) and I gave Nicola a big hug before I headed out of the door and the party continued!
A lovely relaxed family day of celebration - captured naturally!
I hope you enjoy this Sneak Peek, ask the bride and groom when they return from their honeymoon for the LINK and passwords to view all their final edited images from their day!
