Redworth Hall is a great venue for a wedding in County Durham - especially if you book your wedding in the Great hall.
Jenna and Darren fell in love with Redworth Hall quite a while ago with a Valentine's visit there and also the place where Darren proposed to Jenna .. so this had to be their wedding venue! Like quite a few of my brides and grooms this year, they fell in love online, though as they will both tell you, it was a slow process.
Darren didn't have a whole load of time and a lot of confidence whereas Jenna had just come through a relationship that didn't work out and moved back home with a young son, so it was also easier to meet and chat with potential life partners online.
It all worked out well in the end and you could clearly see on the day how much they matched each other, how pleased their closest friends and relatives were for the three of them to make a modern happy family!
I first met with them not long after they were engaged to be married, in Durham, and later that's where we went for their pre-wed portrait shoot and shared a pot of tea as the preparations for their big day came together.
On they day, everything was calm, cool and collected, Darren was busy getting their son ready for the day at one end of the hotel, while Jenna was already having her make-up done by the amazing Jo Leversuch (MakeUp by Jo) .. so nice to see her being part of Jenna's wedding too.
The bridesmaids had already opened the champagne and various auntie's and Jenna's Mum and children made thew rokm a busy place to be , but the atmosphere was good and we all just got on with the things that needed to be done.
I popped next door to get some images of Jenna's amazing Maggie Sottero wedding gown - the 7th bride of mine this year to have 'a Maggie', they really are such lovely wedding dresses! Jenna was showing no sign of nerves at all and Darren was also just looking forward to the ceremony. When Jenna walked down the aisle, she was beaming and even more so when Darren turned to see her!
The Great Hall at Redworth Hall is quite spectacular and the late Autumn light lit everyone up and created a lovely atmosphere as the vows were taken and they became husband and wife.
The sun continued as we headed outside for champagne on the lawn with a few minutes taken out of the happy couple's schedule for a few formal photographs for family and for Jenna and Darren themselves.
Inside for a great wedding breakfast (thanks folks!) and some poignant speeches from family and friends - and Jenna too!
There were a few additional images needed after the reception as evening guests arrived and Kris Cross the magician arrived to entertain the guests before the first dance was underway after cutting the cake, before I thanked everyone for their hospitality and headed off home to my own family.

Crathorne Hall Wedding Photographs - A Favourite

CRATHORNE HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER:
MY FAVOURITE WEDDING IMAGE - TAKEN AT CRATHORNE HALL
This is one of my favourite wedding photographs taken ever .. and it happened to be at one of my favourite UK wedding venues, Crathorne Hall in North Yorkshire
It was taken at Crathorne Hall in 2007 at Jo and Jez's fab celebrations.
I heard screaming and shouting and giggles .. saw the groomsman coming up the hill at the bottom of the lawn .. bang, bang ..
I used a Canon 5D with a Sigma 70-200 EX f2.8 lens
I LOVE this so much, it's the backdrop for my exhibition unit for wedding fairs .....
I was once told by a member of the public
it was a lucky shot ...  Hmmm, 25 years in the making maybe ..

Kirsty and Andrew are a smashing couple who enjoyed a fabulous wedding at the Tynemouth Grand Hotel with their cloest friends and relatives.
I received an email enquiry from them less than a year before their wedding and then we spoke on a Skype video connection to get a feel for each other, which is not ususual with a lot of my clients .. even from Australia in the past!
They liked what they saw, relaxed documentary wedding photography with no bother, no hassle and being able to enjoy a great day of celebration - and signed up!
I didn't actually meet them in person until about 6 weeks before the wedding when they visted the area to finalise plans at the Grand Hotel Tynemouth and catch up with Kirsty's parents who are from the area.

A nice shared pot of tea and then a quick ramble on the beach at Tynemouth with their very young son Aidan and we were up and running!
Even though it was the first time we had met in person, they had confidence and trust in me already and I know after the meeting, we would not be strangers on the day and they could really chill out and relax to enjoy their wedding day.
I travelled up to Tynemouth for an hour the night before too, just to meet with parents and say hello to the main people... many of whom had travelled from London for the wedding on Tyneside .. it's nice to bond with people who will be part of my bride's and groom's big day .. it gives them trust and confidence too.

Kirsty was pretty chilled out when I met with her in a bedroom at the Grand Hotel with her two bridesmaids and munchkin flowergirls, getting her hair and make-up finished off by a friend of the family, sipping champagne.
not long afterwards, I met with Andy and his best man / brother and groomsmen and he seemed to be pretty nervous, when I saw him in the bar 30 minutes later he was just as nervous .. drinking coke and no matter how much advice I gave him to have a beer, he wasn't shifting!

Kirsty's room was busier by now with the flowergirls all excited, so I took them aside for a few portraits while things calmed down a little and Kirsty could finish off her preparations .. and then  her brothers turned up, and then her parents to let her see her beautiful young son Aidan in all his finery!
I popped down the stairs to check the guests arriving and assembling in the ceremony room and there was lots of laughter and happiness, and by this time Andrew was out of the bar and chatting with the registrars and seemed a lot more relaxed!
A few quick bridesmaid photographs with the munchkins and  with Kirsty's father who had arrived to escort her down the stairs to be married and we were ready to go!

There were a few tears as Kirsty arrived, both from her and the guests, but things soon settled down and smiles and laughter took over as they became man and wife .. with little Aidan wandering about and playing with the radiator on the wall which seemed to keep him occupied!
Then it was champagne and canapes for an hour or so as the happy couple and their parents were meeting and greeting their friends and relatives and share the happiness around.
We nipped up to the first floor landing ten minutes before the wedding breakfast for a few formal photographs to keep everyone happy before a storming speech with the best man led into dinner.
As the reception drew to a close, the main guests decided to head down over the road to the beach for some fresh air and stretch their legs .. always a great way to finish a wedding at the Grand Hotel in Tynemouth, and, as ever, guests ended up in the water - and even Kirsty decided to go for a paddle in the sea too.
Additional guests for the evening celebrations were arriving as we kicked the sand off our feet and before long, the first dance was upon us and then the party really started!
What a great relaxed day of family celebration for Andrew and Kirsty .. happiness (and a few tears ..) along the way
I gave my thanks for hospitality to their parents, and quick handshake for Andy and a cuddle for Kirsty and I was off and away home.
A great day for the happy couple and their friends and family at the Grand Hotel Tynemouth!
