What a great day I had photographing Gill and Tim's lovely wedding at The Bowes Museum and their wedding breakfast overlooking the most fantastic views of Teesdale.
Gill and Tim were always enthusiastic about having relaxed, chilled out photography to document their great wedding celebrations, but I also managed to grab a few minutes with them at Bowes Museum to produce some stylish images too.
Top hats and tails were the order of the day for the gentlemen, and
The Picture Gallery was the perfect unique and exclusive wedding venue for such a stylish wedding in Teesdale, County Durham.
The Bowes Museum has a fantastic history, John Bowes was a successful businessman who travelled to Paris in 1847 to explore his interest in the arts. It was here he bought a theatre and met the Parisian actress Joséphine Coffin-Chevallier whom he married in 1852. Joséphine was a talented amateur painter who was interested in a whole range of art forms including paintings, ceramics, furniture and textiles. Soon the couple began to develop the idea of creating a world-class museum back in John’s ancestral home of Teesdale in order to introduce the wider world of art to the local people - situated on the outskirts of Barnard Castle it is one of my favourite buildings in the world!
It was such a relaxed atmosphere .. and the little bridesmaids were gorgeous, truly beautiful.
Tim looked a little nervous as we waited for gill to turn up, and once her car swept up the magnificent drive of the day was ready to start! The ceremony was short and sweet .... but such a magnificent location for a wedding ceremony!
Gill and Tim wanted to head outside for fresh air as soon as possible, so I followed them outside and arranged a couple of quick photographs in the 5 minutes we had before their relatives and guests came outside too for their transport to Teesdale - one opportunity for a quick group shot!
The rest of the day allowed me to capture the fun and ambience of their wedding in an amazing marquee setting for champagne, oysters and great food by specialist caterer Alexander MacMurray with some excellent speeches from family and friends, with plenty of laughter and tears!
Tim plays for Mowden Park rugby team and earlier in the year rowed across the Atlantic to raise money for charity - and his rowing partner, Peter Raab was there too to take a toast!
The Picture Gallery in The Bowes Museum is an amazing setting for any wedding - especially so if you are looking for a different type of wedding venue. Verity Naseby now co-ordinates weddings with her colleagues, while the eight magnificent floral displays by Grace Hunter of Darlington Flower Club were quite unbelievable in their scale. Gill looked fabulous on the day and had a great time with her close friends and relatives while Tim and his brothers looked extremely smart in their top hats and tails... there was time after all the speeches and fun for a few more relaxed photographs of close family and friends, before I (literally) headed off into the sunset, while guests had Fish and Chips at midnight to look forward to!
It was a great day - I hope you enjoy a SNEAK PEAK of some of the 400+ photographs I captured on the day.
