Alison and Tom's small intimate family wedding at the Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley North Yorkshire was a delight, even torrential rain and hailstones couldnt dampen their special day!
Many of the weddings I photograph have between 80-150 guests, but every year I photograph a number of midweek weddings with gatherings of as little as 15 guests, last year my smallest gathering was for 18 guests and Tom and Alison had 25 of their closest family and friends to witness their wedding ceremony at the Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa in Helmsley.
I met with Alison and Tom a couple of times in Thirsk and at their home in a village near York before their special day, so they had confidence and trust that I would unobtrusively capture some lovely natural images from my time with them.
When I arrived at Alison's room at Feversham Arms it was nice to meet her mum too as she had her hair and make-up completed. Her beautiful bespoke wedding gown from Bridal Rogue Gallery in York looked outstanding on its own - before she even get into it!
Tom arrived with his two brothers downstairs and semed in fine form - in fact his brothers looked more nervous to be honest!
Before long, all their family and friends were gathered and Alison was chatting with the regsitrars, and five minutes later, it was smiles all round at Tom greeted his bride as she walked down the aisle.
The weather never improved enough for us to all gather around the swimming pool at the Spa which had been booked, in fact at one point the hailstones were making waves on the top of the pool so heavy were they!
But the small gathering of friends enjoyed champagne and lovely canapes in an ante-room for an hour or s before I borrowed them for 10 minutes for some nice relaxed family photographs as a wedding is a day of record for families, so I always keep with tradition, but complete the informal family photographs uickly and with a smile.
The wedding breakfast was all ready to go, so after some additional photographs of Alison and Tom and a few of the beautiful room setting for their reception, I thanked them both and their parents for their help and hospitality and wished them good luck for the future.
