NICOLA AND JONATHAN'S FANTASTIC WEDDING IN DURHAM

My clients often say to me after I praise their wedding day: "I bet you say that to all the brides!....", and in truth I usually do - but that's because we are so well matched as photographer and bride and groom.

They have a great wedding celebration with their closest family and friends and I have a great time photographing all the fun and happiness - and sometimes tears ....

Nicola and Jonathan's wedding was a little bit different to many that I photograph. They decided to get married at the church where Nicola's Mum and Dad were married in Lanchester, County Durham and have their reception at Van Mildert College in Durham where they had met each other while at University .... aahhhh.

The day worked out great, it rained at the right times (when we were inside) and stopped when we wanted to catch some daylight without getting wet.

Nic and Jon spent some time at Prebends Bridge in Durham which was a special place to them, and it featured in my pre-wedding portrait photography session with them too.

It's never easy to get a clean shot of the bridge without tourists or students on, but with a little bit of persuasion and 'coaxing' and a touch of luck, I managed to get some lovely images of them on the bridge and walking (very gingerly on the wet coblestones) down to the bridge too.

I loved this wedding (as I love all my weddings .... ) and it was great to be with such a great couple and their lovely families in Durham for the day.

RAMSIDE HALL HOTEL AND GOLF CLUB BRIDAL AND WEDDING SHOWCASE

I was invited to exhibit at the Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf club Bridal and Wedding Showcase event on Sunday 5th October 2008 a while ago, and Kate Smith has now confirmed that our exhibit will be in the Grand Marquee between 12pm - 4pm

I very much look forward to meeting with any couples planning their wedding day in the near future or in the year or two ahead, and to whom professional creative wedding photography is an important part of their day

As ever, happy to offer help and advice about ANYTHING to do with your wedding day - after all, I've been to more than most people!

NICOLA AND JONATHAN ON PREBENDS BRIDGE IN DURHAM CAPTURED BY DIRK VAN DER WERFF

I had fun with Nicola and Jonathan when we finally managed to catch up in Durham over the weekend .....

I'm photographing their wedding in Durham at a church in Lanchester and then on to Van Mildert College in August for their wedding reception - which is where they first met in Jonathan's last year at University.

Ahhh, how romantic!

Jonathan works in Cheltenham and Nicola works in London, but she is originally from Hartlepool.

We walked down to Prebends Bridge, one of their favourite spots and we talked about walking up to the green in front of Durham Cathedral, through the crowds of tourists and shoppers and back down onto the bridge on their wedding day ...... it sounds great fun and should make for some great photographs on their BIG day!

We then walked back to the college and walked around the lake and took some more photographs there too ..... and Jonathan used his beady eyes to spot a heron at the water's edge, and a few minutes later our photography took a break as we watched two tiny Moorhens attack this huge Heron and drive it off to the other side ..... weird, but it made us laugh more and we finished off our photographs there.

I'm really looking forward to their wedding in Durham in August!
