Sarah and Chris are such a lovely couple, and I feel that I have known them forever.
It's often the case with my brides and grooms, we gradually bond for a year or two while the planning is underway, and I'm always there to advise and help if needed - after all I have been to more weddings than most vicars!
St Hilda's 12th Century Church on the ancient and historical Headland of Hartlepool is perhaps one of the finest religious buildings in the north behind Durham Cathedral and York Minster - such history for a wedding venue.
Crathorne Hall is perhaps my favourite wedding venue in North Yorkshire, so mixing them both together together with the laid-back attitude of Chris and Sarah, was always going to make a chilled out day of celebration to remember, and so it proved to be.
Part of my service includes attending your dress rehearsal or a family gathering to meet with parents and grandparents, so they feel comfortable and relaxed on the big day, so we're not strangers. This time I did both, so when I arrived at Sarah's family Victorian villa right on the seafront at 'old Hartlepool' it was like being with friends.
Sarah was chilled out and very excited, her little 'meltdown' the previous day was a distant memory!
Little nieces and nephews to be bridesmaids and a paige boy were all about while the hairdressers and make-up artist were busy, busy busy while Mum and Dad were arranging and organising and getting themselves organised!
Sarahs wedding dress hung proudly in the 2nd floor living room awaiting centre stage.
I popped around the corner to the pub where Chris was due to be .. but no sign, he was obviously running late, and when I returned to the home, the beautiful Rolls Royce from Cleveland Classics had arrived, and Sarah was ready to get into her dress!
We had a few problems, but soon enough we were all ready to go - we just popped over the road where people were waiting to get a photograph that Sarahs father wanted on the seafront before I dashed across to the church to let Chris know that she was on her way!
Once their eyes met at the front of the church it was smiles all round, with a few tears too and before long we were out in the sunshine and blue skies (most unexpected bonus) to meet and greet their closest family and friends.
A lovely double decker bus had been laid on for guests to ferry them half an hour down the road to the beautiful wedding venue of Crathorne Hall in North Yorkshire.
I have photographed many brides and grooms at Crathorne Hall, but everytime I go back with a tingle of excitement, it really is a perfect wedding venue in my eyes, with a great team of staff to look after you too.
Sarah and Chris and their guests were given an hour and a half to chill out in the sunshine and really get into the spirit of their day. This allowed me the chance to capture some nice relaxed images which is what they were attracted to me for in the first place.
20 minutes before the wedding breakfast, I quickly arranged some nice family portraits with parents and grandparents and made sure we had the traditional group shot at Crathorne - on the lawn, but done quickly with a smile and a sea of 'rabbits'.
After a magnificent wedding breakfast (thanks folks!) the speeches provided welcome relief and fun, with warm smiles and laughter filling the room - with a few tears from Sarah again.
Afterwards, I borrowed the bride and groom for a few photographs in the grounds, chilled out with a few champagnes and glasses of wine, I was done in ten minutes and then worked with both sets of parents to capture some additions quick family portraits for future generations to admire!
First dance was upon us, with newer evening guests taking to the dance floor as well, and there was just time to don the two crazy horses heads given as a gift to the happy couple because poor Sarah was often called Shergar on account of her magnificent teeth!
She took it in great humour and before long I had Sarah and Chris galloping around the lawn at Crathorne Hall.
Surreal!
GREAT DAY OF CELEBRATION FOR SARAH AND CHRIS AND THEIR FAMILIES!
