ALL LOVED UP AT HEADLAM HALL
Headlam Hall is a great wedding photography venue, and in the top three of all the wedding locations I photograph at in the north of England - especially in a late spring, summer or early Autumn wedding.
Samantha and Andrew's wedding was at Headlam Hall, the weather was wonderful, the celebrations wonderfully happy and they were two of the happiest brides and grooms you could wish for.
I first met with Andy and Sam almost two years before their wedding. We shared a pot of tea and some cake at a local hotel, and chatted about their expectations of the day and their photography needs. Natural was the way, as good looking as both of them were, neither were particularly in awe of being dragged away from their guests for hours on end for photography, they wanted to enjoy their day with their family and friends. I promised them that we would take just 20 minutes out of the day that I spent with them to keep parents and grandparents happy, and the rest of the time could be all theirs, and I would capture the days' events naturally as they happened.
We chatted a few times in the intervening months online on Facebook, then arranged to meet for a chat and some photography about 6 weeks or so before their wedding - to built more of a rapport and 'bond' a little. We ended up on a beautiful day wandering through Great Ayton, sharing more tea and cake and taking photographs in the countryside with Roseberry Topping in the background - it's all about trust and confidence, and afterwards, they both said they were so looking forward to me being a small but important part of their wedding celebrations!
COME THE DAY .... Sam was happy and chilled out at Headlam Hall along with her bridesmaids and mum as I arrived on a beautiful sunny day, hairstylists from Nancy Darcy at Skelton and make-up from Amanda Bell all busy and smiling and happy to - such a lovely atmosphere!

Andy and 'the boys' were already chilling on the new terrace outside the garden room at Headlam Hall with a few alcoholic beverages - looking very smart indeed in their blue suits from Baker's Tailoring . The theme of sunflowers was to run through the day, sunflower buttonholes, sunflower bouquets, sunflower centrepieces .. in fact, sunflowers everywhere from the amazing florist Adam Prest - quite wonderful!
Sam's amazing Ian Stuart Bridal wedding dress was from Hayley Dennison / The Bridal Collection at Harrogate and it looked stunning! The dark blue bridesmaid dresses looked classy and by now the bridesmaids were ready in their Joanne Kay Bridal dresses. and Sam was busting to get into her dress. We had been watching guests arrive from the bedroom windows, sunning themselves on the terraces, but most now were heading towards the ceremony room. Sam's father arrived in the room just as his wife had finished dressing her - she truly looked a picture when she peeped through the door at the waiting bridesmaids and her father, who had to take a deep intake of breath!
Quick dash down the stairs and across the courtyard to see how Andy was doing, and he was absolutely fine, churning up a bit, but pretty good.

Soon Samantha was walking down the aisle to greet him with a great big smile .. and there were already tears in the audience!
After readings and a ceremonial lighting of candles by the mothers of the bride and groom as well as the B&G too, we were outside to hugs and kisses in the sunshine on the terrace at Headlam Hall.
I sneaked across to the wedding reception room to check out the room as it was put together for the wedding breakfast - including the lovely seating plan, stationary and table settings from Sarah Alexis Stationary - quite lovely, along with, beautiful chair covers with hessian from Stitch & Glitz from Great Ayton and a stunning wedding cake, featuring hessian bowes and sunflowers from Burnett4Cakes

There was time for a few family groups and getting the bridesmaids and 'the boys together for a few record shots and a big group shot on the lawn before we headed in for the entertaining speeches from two best men, Andy and Sam's father.
After enjoying a sumptious wedding breakfast (Thank you folks...) Chris and Janet from One Digital Image videography and I headed off with the bride and groom to capture some footage and some lovely images - the first time I had been alone with Andy and Sam all day. Fifteen minutes later, we were meeting and greeting additional guests as we moved towards the cake cutting and a very entertaining first dance ...
Unfortunately, yours truly was dragged into a Samba 'thing', ahem, with Andy taking my photograph - the shame!
Soon it was time to bid farewell to parents and thank them for the hospitality, throw a Man-Hug around the groom and a big kiss and cuddle for Sam - what a GREAT day they enjoyed at Headlam Hall!
